Filter Response Functions

The frequency-dependent response functions for computing filtered framing camera images and filtered X-ray diode array (XRD) signals are specified using either input files or the atomic elements and atomic element areal densities in the filter.

For each filter response function, SPECT3D computes a computed filtered image or XRD signal.

To add a filter response function in either the XRD tab or the Framing Camera tab:

• Click on the Add button.
• The default filter name can be edited.
• Select the method for specifying the filter:

  • File: click on the Browse... button to select the file that contains the filter response. These are two-column files, as described in Filter Response Files.
  • Elements: click on the Add button on the right-hand side of the lower panel and click on an element in the periodic table that is shown:

  

  The areal density (element density in g/cm^3 multiplied by thickness in cm) can be entered by either double-clicking with the mouse in the areal density cell in the table, or by clicking on the Set Areal Density button.

  

  • Gaussian. Enter values for the photon energy at the peak and the full width at half maximum height. Both values are in eV.

  

  • Square. Enter values for the minimum and maximum photon energies in eV.
